I requested to have my MIrena removed on 1/10 after only having it since 12/28. I made this request to a different Dr. than the one that inserted it because my health insurance changed. The DR. I chose to go see was not recommended to me I just randomly pick her from my healthcare web site. On the day of my visit she asked me why I was requesting to have the Mirena removed, I explained to her the side effects I had been experiencing e.g. no sex drive, chronic headaches, and aniexty to the point my mind would race and I had no idea what I was anxious about. The Dr. proceeded to tell me that none of my symptoms were caused by the mirena, I mean she talked about the mirena like it was some kind of God. I asked her to explain my symptoms because I never had any of these symptoms prior to having the mirena inserted and all of my blood work came back normal from the pap that I had prior to insertion. She had no answers, but insisted that the mirena was no causing any of this. I got upset because I felt like she tried to make it seem like I haven't been me for the past 24 yrs and that a degree gave her the authority to discount all of my complaints. The way she defended the mirena you would have thought she either patented the damn thing or she received a portion of the proceeds from the sale of it. I told her I wanted the damn thing out of me and she proceeded to tell me that I this was all in my head because I haven't had the mirena for 2 weeks. I told her I didn't care if I had it for 2 hrs it has hormones and can have some type of effect on anyone. Needless to say she wasn't happy with my decision to have it removed, but she did it. I just got my period 2 days later and I feel a little better, not all the way normal but at least the headaches have ceased and beginning to get my sex drive back.
