I urge you to buy Sally Fallon's book "Nourishing Traditions." It will explain what infants are ready to eat from a physical point and when. I think I have posted links in another post in this thread.
It was very helpful to read when our girls were 8-10 months old and I wanted to introduce some "solids" but I was inherently uncomfortable with rice cereal and other common starter foods.
Neither of my twins, and I don't say this proudly but because I believe it is the result of extended b'feeding and then the Weston A. Price information, has ever thrown up or had a food that "disagreed" with her.
