Re: Severe acid reflux problems
Wittlewabbite, thanks for the post.
Mine seemed to be triggered by a hangover after drinking a few too many beers on an empty stomach. Got sick in the night and had the normal hangover, but seemed to get periods of nausea in the days after this - didn't notice the burning in my chest till a while later but did have the dryness of the lips and mouth right away I believe. Prior to this I remember getting some pains in my chest particularily after the end of the work day, which doctors believed to be bad heartburn. Anyway it sounds like something was brewing and I sped up the process a bit. It seemed to come and go with stress for the first year and a half, now its full blown discomfort or nausea almost all the time. I've read elsewhere of people's problems starting after they had the stomach flu as well, just seems like something like that, or in your case your reaction to
Antibiotics is enough to trigger it.
It is kind of a scary feeling being sick all the time, which leads to that cycle of stress. A few weeks ago, I was waking up with severe anxiety attacks because of it. Didn't feel like even getting out of bed. I've gone on some antideppressants to control this, but the physical symptoms seem to persist -although they've been a bit better recently.
I've been thinking about the problem a lot and I was thinking about the bile-acid content that may be coming up. I get a lot of that sour smell in my mouth and like I said the PPI's don't seem to do a lot for me, especially at night. I was wondering if a good portion of my problem is bile reflux, for which the medications wouldn't do much for. Bile can also damage the esophagus. It just seems like I'm a little too ill for straight acid reflux, but the doctors haven't given me anything else to go on and the bloodtests for all the organs showed up normal. For this reason, I was going to see about doing a
Liver Flush possibly, as well as a
Colon Cleanse to see if it helps at all. And yes, I do have a number of silver fillings from my younger days.
Are you still having the symptoms? I'd sure like to hear some more from you if you have anything else to add. You can always email me if you like.
