Re: DAY V, by MH
You are speaking of Bob Fitzsimmons.
"The ONLY man to win the light weight/middle weight/ and heavy weight boxing championship of the world"
Incorrect. He was the FIRST in boxing history, but not the only.
For all of his strength and skill, he only lived 54 years. Must have been in part because of the following diet:
"In the October 12 edition of the Dallas Morning News, it was reported that Fitz, after an ocean swim, a walk, a romp with Pat - his two hundred pound St Bernard, and some wood splitting, settled down to a breakfast table usually stocked with "oatmeal, muffins, steak, chops or chicken. HE DOES NOT BELIEVE IN DIET OR SPECIAL FOODS.After exercising and a cold sponge bath there was a hearty dinner of "every vegetable the markets far and near can produce. These are flanked by generouis roasts of beef, mutton and pork."
uh oh.

Notice the part about exercising and then a "cold sponge bath" hmmm...the theory sounds familiar, heating the body up, then cooling it off, interesting. He ate a lot of veggies by the sounds of it.
Hotema was a great writer, but he was very wrong about many things. Still my overall favorite writer though, it just pays to cross check some of the things he wrote about, even his understanding of some esoteric knowledge was a bit off, to say the least.
P.S. After over a year of fruitarian living, I am weighing in at a saucy yet chisled 186.72 lbs., and am enjoying more great health and success in life than ever before. All hail the orange.
