After researching and speaking, ad nauseum, to professional therapists/counselors/psychiatrists, you will find that narcissism is the platform upon which a number of pathologies will be based.  That the symptoms become more and more risky, dangerous, harmful, damaging, subversive, and cruel depends solely upon numerous other factors in each individual's case/background:  familial dynamics; health issues; trauma; etc.
