Yes magnets do loose their strength as time goes by, manufactures normally guarantee the gauss of their magnets for anything from 15 - 25 years depending on the magnetic material that it is made from, but the gauss of a magnet can diminish quickly if the magnet is not cared for, such as heating the magnet to a high temperatures.

If you look after your magnets and store them correctly they can last a long time.
