Actually not. The truth is that medical students are told that parasites are not a problem in the US and only the ones who are interested in working in foreign countries even bother to study parasitology.

You might actually bother to watch the Discovery Science channel or the National Geographic channel. They both run segments on the parasite epidemic a couple of times a month.
