Re: Literally freezing hands and feet
one more thought about the cold feet--another thing that used to bother me, but not as much as the cold hands.
MH ( who some think quite radical, or even loopy )suggests going barefoot as much as possible. Also, walking in snow
( which is wonderful)--You will often find kids do this for fun, if their parents don't brainwash them into believing this is how you 'catch' colds. My son and a friend would as kids go out into the yard in winter after a big snowfall and go screaming around the place laughing and yelling "rampage!" until their feet and legs were bright red. I don't know where they got this from--but it was creative 'genius' , or so thought I. At the time we mothers would just stand inside and laugh with delight--and wish we weren't 'too old' to do that. Now, we're smarter! They never got sick from that, but rather, would be more well! And their circulation got a real boost. it is wrapping up, and contracting or 'tightening' (behaving
protectively, in some manner,
whether physically or emotionally) that more often causes one to 'catch' something.
I go barefoot now as much as I can--or in sandals-- and have for the last six years or so. Before that, I would do the opposite, and wear socks and more socks to try to warm up my feet--which always only made them colder (or "coddled", as MH puts it). Now I feel stuffy and aggravated if I have to wear socks too often...I can tell it weakens the system.
