Help! I don't know what this is.

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me.

A few weeks ago, the tips of my fingers felt sort of numb. I still had feeling, but it felt as though my fingers were coated in something, like wax. Then the skin started to bubble on my finger tips, under the nail, and the skin is peeling off, all the way down my fingers. Right now, my fingers have peeled to the 2nd knuckle. Also, the palms of my hands seem rough, almost calloused, and the skin is starting to bubble and peel. My dermatologist gave me a steroid cream, which I'm afraid to use, and told me it was just eczema.

I've had eczema before, the itchy kind, with tiny bumps, where the skin cracks on the knuckles. This is different, I've never had the peeling. I don't know what is causing it, as I've not begun to use any new products. Can someone please advise?

Thanks!
