Smoking Habit + Concerns About Breaking A Water Fast
I'm currently on Day 14 of a
Water Fast I've taken on for an undertermined period of time. I'm sort of just taking it one day at a time and started doing it to calm down my mind from the excessive lifestyle I was leading, simply my daily patterns, and lose some weight.
Something I've noticed throughout this process is my increasing inability to enjoy cigarettes. I'm finding that they taste quite rancid (not unlike the first time I tried them 15 years ago) and bother my mouth and lungs. I'm wondering if this is the result of the fast and if anyone has had a similar experience.
Another concern I have is about breaking the fast. I'm very concerned, as an experienced faster, about that first bite of food afterwards. On a couple occasions it has triggered binge eating and am looking for some ideas of a good post-fasting plan. What do you think of the following:
Post Fast:
Day 1-2: Juices
Day 3-6: Overboiled (as in mushy) rice cooked in broth with lemon and olive oil. This will be more 'soup-y' than anything else and I plan one meal of this per day, around 6pm.
Day 7-10: Addition of soft, well-cooked veggies like brocolli and tomatoes to the above-mentioned soup.
Day 11+: Raw veggies/fruits, salads + rice
Juices aside, I think eating solid foods once a day is good for the long-term. A side-benefit of this fasting is how it has made me stop to think about what my body needs, realising just how much overeating slows us down. Any thoughts?
