Joseph Smith: prophet or phony? Why?

Mormon missionaries knocked on my door last week. Said that they were the one true church on the entire earth. They claim that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ and that he was to be the builder of this true church. Many people in history have made divine claims about seeing deity.
