Re: chemical burn from Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Scotchbrite Easy Eraser

I am stunned that nothing in that report said anything about the primary toxic ingredient in Easy Erasers, but now I cannot remember what it was.

I saw it on TV last spring where a CBC show had a woman pick out Easy Eraser and it had the toxic ingredient on the label. Someone read the label, it has something like Formaldehyde, a well known cancer causing chemical.
But that might not be it exactly. Sorry, I cant find the info now.. but I am sure she read it off the label.

Not all products list ingredients, and so we should simply not buy them then.

Here is a link to "The Guide to Less Toxic Products"
http://lesstoxicguide.ca/index.asp?

Example from that site:

Spot Remover

Spot removers are often made with highly toxic petrochemical solvents including toluene and xylene which are neurotoxic and can cause reproductive damage, tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene) which is carcinogenic, neurotoxic and an eye and kin irritant, and petroleum distillates which can cause eye, skin and respiritaory irritation and is neurotoxic. They may also include petroleum spirits, sodium dithionate, TEA, and 1,1, 1-trichloroethane.

- and then it gives safer alternatives!!!
Great site.
