Thanks, 67254!

"The Anatomy of the Soul," by Caroline Myss, right?

I've been wondering for a long time about the interconnectedness of all parts of the person.

We say, generally speaking, that stress is a precursor to many ailments.

Maybe each person focuses many stresses in some specific way...some to, say, the liver/gallbladder area; others to the the chest/round-shoulders/stomach-compression/etc.; some to jutted chin/heavy walk/etc.

Just guessing, but it surely seems possible.

Looking back over a lifetime, I can see that some are born into stressful situations, unnoticed by themselves or their families.

A toddler, for example, takes the troubles of a family member very much to heart. They adopt it as their own.

If this coincides with toilet training time, why wouldn't that stress result in 'anal retentiveness', or diarrhea, or some other misfunction in that area of the body?

If this is true, then it would take very insightful parents to notice, and to 'disconnect' the early ailment before it becomes permanent.

Or, for the individual to recognize where stress is focused, and to relax deliberately.

Too often, I think, we see our own areas of concern as in-born 'obstacles', or permanent disabilities...when all we need to do is to drop that point-of-view.

We could spend our whole lives 'fighting' what we see as a 'failing' in our operating system, when it has actually been imposed upon our vulnerable inner person, as children.

Anyway, whether or not this theory is true, I've thought about 'releasing' things for a couple of days...and it seems to be working. (Grin.)

I'm also working on thinking up scenarios I would have preferred...not the actual events, but the confidence and reasonableness I might have felt if I had known better at times of uncertainty.

The sub-conscious doesn't seem to care when soothing happens, or who does the soothing...just that it gets done. We can do it for ourselves.

Someone on CureZone mentioned that they direct loving words toward an organ that was stressed. Like, "Liver, who loves ya, Babe? You can do it! Hang in there! You're going to feel so GOOD!"

Probably best done in private, lest they come and take you away.

But, it can't hurt.

I'd really like to read what Caroline Myss has to say about this.

Thanks.
