Re: Critterkids and Ynaig

Chicken is just fine. It is always recommended to use the best and cleanest meat that you can afford, such as organic, but even if it is from the regular grocery store, it is ultimately better than commercial kibble.

Cats are generally more difficult to switch to raw foods than dogs, especially if they have been on kibble for a long time. (oops, my cat is laying on my keyboard - LOL). The site I mentioned before (and I have no affiliation with) http://www.catnutrition.org, is excellent. Click on "Recipes" and "Making Cat Food" and you will see that the basis is raw chicken with the bones.

If you use this as a starting point and then work your way into more variety, you will be way ahead of the masses. Then you can expand to other food options.

Also there are some good message boards on Yahoo.com about raw cat feeding. Go to groups.yahoo.com and do a search for cat raw feeding. Lots of info.

Just take it one step at a time. Don't panic. Do what you can. Get some education first and then take the leap. It doesn't have to happen overnight.

Your kitties will be just fine and they will thank you in the long run.

Best of luck.
