Re: Ignoring the failures of alternative medicine
You may as I do the limitaions of science, however there is no other method available to obtain objective data. It would be a fool's choice to dismiss science because of its limitations. It is the best tool we have. What you are suggesting would drive us into ignorance, relying on historical cures that have as much to do with superstition as anything else.
The research done in rodents is outstanding, they are feed high quality feed that exceeds what you could imagine, the are caged in enviromentally controlled cages, with purified air and water and live in rich, mentally engaging enviroment. Science is based on objective information, repeatability and testability. Your view of science is highly flawed, and seems shaped by conspiracy stories from the internet.
The statistics on longevity are solid. It is your assertion that lifespan is decreasing that is the lie. Though you did luck into the two factors that have the greatest negative impact on health. Slothness, and Obesity - which increases incidence of diabetis, cardiac episodes, cancers, arthritis, reduces immune response, impacts apotoptic control, and so on. Maybe if it happens all around you, then you are living in a anomalous cluster, too many fat people, doing nothing and smoking and drinking. Move to Boulder or Durango a nice healthy, fit community.
Finally, two family examples are not indicative of what happens in society.
