Re: Help with IUD
Hi,
I was about to have a IUD fitted last week and after abit of researching about the mood swings and
Acne and all that stuff i decided against it as i got all those symptoms while on the pill.
The doctor who was trying to convince me it was a good method of contraception said that my periods would likely stop alltogether. Some irregularity for the first 6 months. He also said if i didn't like it i could have it removed at any time.
I would suggest to go and get it removed by your doctor. Allow your system to find its own balance again hormonally. When i came off the pill i felt incredible even after 4 weeks. The difference it made! I had not noticed how moody and depressed i had gradually got. That's because it takes time for the chemical reaction to have an effect on our personalities. It's too gradual to notice. Until one day you look inside yourself and feel completely alienated from the kind of person you used to be before the contraception.
Ask your boyfriend to be patient, explain to him that the way you are feeling right now is not through you wanting to feel like that. If you get the IUD removed and use another less-intrusive form of contraception, you will at least give yourself the chance to detox from the IUD and see how you feel.
Good luck, i hope you find your balance again. You need to be patient too...you won't feel better overnight, it is gradual...we all have to begin somewhere :-)
Warm regards,
Bec.
