Any doggy people around? About worms/parasites

My puppy is now 6 months. I've registered him with a vet (sicne that is the condition of my pet insurance) and this is of course essential shuld he have an accident.

He is due for a free health check every 6 months, no doubt the vet will try and push worming products and such on me.

Do you all do parasite and worming type work on your dogs? If so, how? Mine is on the raw food diet so I've been told it's rare for them to pick up worms and such.

How would I know if my dog had parasites or worms?

I give him a tablespoon of EV cocnut oil each day.
