amalgam and hydrogen peroxide
first, i found this:

from the link -
"The effect of carbamide peroxide teeth whitening products on dental work.
While some detrimental effects of peroxide-based teeth whiteners on dental work have been identified the clinical significance of these effects has not been conclusively demonstrated. Some studies have shown that peroxide products do microscopically deteriorate the surface of white fillings (dental composite fillings). Others have shown that some dental cements may be dissolved by 10% carbamide peroxide. Fresh
Amalgam fillings (silver dental fillings) may release mercury during the bleaching process and this may be a reason to delay the initiation of bleaching treatments."
this is bad news for me because all of my fillings are composites. i recall MH stating that it is best to get the technician to put the light on the composite fillings twice in order to make them safer. i did not do this with mine as i had already gotten the work done.
i dont know what this nonsense is about fresh
Amalgam fillings, but perhaps it makes them release mercury faster than usual. there is a period of time on fresh fillings that the mercury is released more rapidly than later.
its just business:

"Will this tooth whitener product affect my crowns or fillings?
The Carbamide Peroxide Teeth Whitening Kit gel will not affect fillings, crowns or other tooth colored restorations. Occasionally
Amalgam fillings may leave a grey residue in your tray. This is only surface stains from the filling."
move along folks. nothing to see here. GREY RESIDUE FROM AMALGAM FILLINGS!!! their just stains, nothing to worry about.
a real study:

from the link -
"RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The experimental procedure simulated the dissolution of mercury from dental
Amalgams by different disinfectants
under realistic conditions. The dissolved mercury was detected as the amalgam particles are retained in the
amalgmn separator, only the (re)dissolved part was washed out. The results are summarized in Table 1. The
disinfectants contraning highly oxidizing components (sodium perborate: hydrogen peroxide; chloramme T:
hypochlorite and chlorine, respectively) remobilized sigmficantly (p <_ 0.05) more mercury than agents containing
no such compounds. The standard potentials of the oxidizing components are summarized in Table 2. All the
strongly oxidng components have a markedly higher oxidiang potential than elemental mercury and will
therefore dissolve mercury from dental amalgams."

from the link:
"Liquid will be added to the dry mixture in your hand to create a paste each time you’re ready to do “The Secret.”
For liquid, you can use either:
•
Colloidal Silver - safe if you still have mercury amalgam fillings, or
• Hydrogen peroxide - only if you have no metal (mercury/amalgam) fillings in your mouth, or"
this is part of their "save your teeth" remedy. looks like a good one.
