Re: Trust issues and am I being unreasonable?

I feel the very same way, and am the same type of person, I am the anchor in most of my friendships and love relationships.

I find that I will make excuses for the person who doesn't call or doesn't just do what they said they would. I want an excuse for them because the alternative is admitting to myself that they don't care that much about me and if that was the case, well jeez, would I have any friends left?

I wonder if I expect too much from people and then if my expectations are reasonable, should I just let these people fall out of my life? Because I must trust to respect and I must respect to maintain any relationship.

I am a very responsible person and I expect others to be responsible as well, that means if you say you will call me Thursday, then call me Thursday - or if you absolutely cannot - call me Friday or Saturday and at least explain!

I have struggled with how to solve this issue in my life also - I do have a good friend that will keep contact with me periodically, even when she moves away she will call me or I will call about once a month or so. When she is in town we get together once or twice a week and if I don't call, she will.

I appreciate that kind of friendship because I don't feel like it's all up to me to maintain it, but what about the others? Most people get angry if you call them on that behavior, what is that? Don't people know they are supposed to follow through with what they said they'd do.
