Re: I need advice about dentist x-rays! should i be concerened?

I agree with Ev. The dentist should not use the X-ray machine every 6 months.
I assume you are getting them cleaned at these 6-month check-ups. Well between the hygenist cleaning and the dentist examining (with their eyeballs), they should be able to notice any cavities. They can tell if you have a cavity inbetween the teeth when they are flossing.

The x-ray machine would only need to be used on a few occasions, for example if they thought you had an impacted or abcessed wisdom tooth and were going to extract it, or other things like that.

So just tell them that you trust their ability to spot cavities without the x-ray, and that you don't want any more x-rays on your regular visits. If they refuse, then find another dentist.

You didn't mention if you had ever had a cavity before, or any dental work.
If you're like me and have never had a cavity, or if you've only had 1 cavity, then you're not too likely to have a cavity anyway.

By the way, if you are new to all of this, there may be some other things about dental awareness that you might be interested in. You can learn about them here at Curezone. There's some discussion in this forum, and some in dental forums. Plus, you can search all of curezone to read old posts, which is very helpful.
Some of the topics include good dental health, what people use to clean their teeth, oil swishing/pulling, how food affects teeth, materials used in fillings, methods for treating cavitations, and remineralizing/rebuilding teeth.

Hope that helps!
