Re: Going into the EMT field and I dont want to get the Hep vac any suggestions or advice
Hey Flurry. I just went thru the process of researching this on the internet so my 3 year old could attend nursery school. I have vaccinated against most of the regulars, but refused things I thought were unlikely Chicken pox, hep B, pneumonia, etc) Here is what I found:
there is an
Antibiotic for hep b and
98% who are exposed and receive it in a timely manner, make 100% recovery
hep b cannot be transmitted through saliva, urine or feces
hep b is only transmitted thru needle sharing and sexual contact
it is extremely rare to even transmit it thru a blood transfusion
I filled out the exemption and gave it to the school, who then turns in their 'proof of vaccination' records and any waiver requests to the health dept. I have yet to hear anything, but we all know how slow the gov can be. One person told me once you apply, it is a done deal. The school did have be sign a waiver along with my exemption request that said I understand the consequenses and risks of the disease and will hold no one responsible for any exposure to hepb or the side effects that may insue. I said if my son is at risk for hepb in this classroom, I sure would like to know what is going on behind closed doors!
Another person told me that the gov could make the school expell him for "non-compliance".
God Bless you for wanting to work in your choosen field of choice. Keep us posted on what happens on this journey. - Alisa - rooks_alisa@yahoo.com
