Re: Probiotics not being absorbed?
I made a drink that was posted on another forum. It was supposed to ease pain. At the time I was in intense pain and was out of medication. I made the drink that called for 6 tablespoons of lime water. I developed a terrible headache I became horribly bloated, my heart began racing, my joints swelled up and became hot to touch. Worst of all my kidneys seemed to stop working. On a hunch I took a large dose of Epson salt to try and get flushed out. That helped ease the symptoms although I was very week for several days. Later I spoke to some experts in different areas-my Naturopath, plus a chemist and an expert in natural healing techniques. They agreed that what probably happened was the pickling lime drink released a lot of carbon dioxide when it came in contact with stomach acid, some of the CO2 was absorbed into the bloodstream and caused the problems. The large dose of
Epsom Salt quickly opened up a pathway to release the excess gas and prevented further, potentially fatal problems. A small dose of lime water may be fine for most people, but beware of taking too much. As for me, I will never take it again. There are much better and safer ways to get calcium.
The odd thing is I am not acidic, I use an alkalizing drink made with a mineral rich green food instead of lime water and
Epsom Salt and it has worked miracles. However, the stomach is naturally acid in a healthy person, and I overdid the alkaline lime water.
