Re: Scoliosis treatments/cures?
hi camille,i also had a small dent in my chest and went to the dr. he advised an X ray and found nothing wrong but asigned me to see a specialist at a children's hospital, they found that i obtained injury to my spine without correction(my friend dropped me on my neck on the trampoline) and thats what caused the scoliosis, how ever it was a mild 5 degree curve and i got in to chiropcractic care, which helped a bit but was a long expensive process so i dropped it, the doctor also suggested excercise daily, however i suffer from fatigue and chronic back pain so its hard to get out, im also lactose intolerant so my calcium level is extremely low which doesnt help at all. through out school i would wear jackets alot and had lotsa friends/girlfriends and was able to keep it from them because it was so mild, so i kinda started to ignore the problem and it has now gotten more noticable to my friends and family, i have never worn a brace cuz of fear of embaracement, and i am sorry but i have no ideas for a cure other than what you are doing, apparently surgery is quiet a process but if u are willing to put in the effort im sure it will be fine, and give u the correction u want, if your Dr. suggests it im sure it is ok. as for life threatening i haven't heard it as being so, but i have heard it requires rehabilitation, and may cause some problems in the future towards not being able to be as active as before the surgery, just some things to think about, i am now 19, and the Dr. says my bones are done growing and my back shouldnt get any worse so 18 is almost done growing as well, anyways take care i posted because i can relate to what you are going through, post back if you like..
