Herniated Disks

Can herniated disks heal naturally?

My husband was just diagnosed with a herniated disk. He has not seen the specialist yet, but was told he would most likely reccommend surgery. The doc said that herniated disks are usually measured in milimeters, but my husband's is "well over a centimeter". He also has another "small" herniated disk that the doctors are not worried about now.

My husband really isn't into natural health, and so I'm sure he will take the doctor's suggestion of surgery for the worst disk. I was wondering if there was anything that could be done for the smaller one so that it gets better, or at least not worse.
