Re: Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) as magnesium supplement?

The magnesium in Epsom Salts is not easily absorbed by the body. That is why it is such an effective laxative, most of the magnesium goes into the bowel where it draws fluid so it can be flushed out of the body. Another good laxative that is not a good supplement is magnesium oxide. Minerals that end in oxide are generally not well absorbed. Minerals ending in hydroxide tend to be highly caustic and should not be used as supplements. Citrate minerals are absorbed at high much higher percentage. Ionic and angstrom minerals are small enough to be absorbed on a cellular level. Some minerals are like inorganic rock and the body cannot utilize them. Other mineral compounds are treated like organic products and are much easier for the body to utilize. I am searching for a chart or guide that shows the best mineral compounds for supplementation. Does anyone know of one?
