The article strikes me a being conspicuous by what it doesn't say. For example, only a proportion of so-called cholesterol Gallstones have a crystallised structure. Other stones are formed through micelles and vesicles depending upon the relative proportions of cholesterol, lecithin and bile salts. Some stones are little more than thick bile entrapped in a membrane.
