Liver transplant & anti-rejection drugs

Well, a dear old friend of mine is on the waiting list. He has definitly led a life of denial & indulgence...think "Keith Richards". He's had hep c for years and partied none the less.

The sad thing is that in the last 5 years or so, he's done a lot to improve his health. Stopped drinking & carousing, he's done a lot of cleansing, cleaned up his diet...he's really tried. Unfortunately it's too late. His liver is too far gone.

One of the strange things he told me was that after he gets the new liver, he's supposed to eat whatever he wants for a month or two. Burgers, pizza, you name it! This is supposed to "shock" his new liver into....functioning?? I don't get it.

AND, he has to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of his life.

So...I guess I'm wondering...what can he do to minimize the effects of the drugs? Does anyone out there have any idea?

Will he be able to flush his liver? I know these questions are kind of "out there" for Curezone....anybody have a clue?
