Mosquito bites

One of my granddaughters, who is 4 years old, is very allergic to mosquito's. They seek her out of a crowd and bite her profusely! She must put off an odor that they like and they won't let her alone. She can NOT go outside in the winter or the summer. We live in the south of USA and those pesky things are around year round. The problem is that she swells up with huge blisters the size of quarters! They hurt so bad and they take a couple weeks to go away with scabbing, etc. She has scars all over her precious little body because of mosquito bites.

Her Mom (my daughter) and Dad have taken her to the ER when this happens. They give her a shot for pain, benadryl and send her home. She's been to allergists who have no idea what to do. Regular MD's put her on Triamcinolone Acetonide cream every 15 min. whenever she gets bit. Bandages must be put on or she breaks open the blisters in her play and then they hurt worse.

Parents have finally stopped using Deet sprays on her. We've used Buzz Away, Neem Aura Outdoor Spry, and a dozen other sprays to keep the M. away, but nothing seems to help. I suggested garlic to be consumed to build up the smell in her body to keep them away, but trying to get a 4 year old to eat garlic is next to impossible.

I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone her can give me. I feel so sorry for her and limiting her outdoor play is so frustrating when she wants to go outside so bad. Heaven help us when a M. gets in the house!! And the scars will be with her the rest of her life. We thought she would outgrow this allergy as she got older, but in 4 years, nothing has changed.

God Bless everyone on this forum! I'm so glad I found this place and all these wonderful people!
