Re: Super, do you think lying is wrong?

I think you didn't really think about that question. Think about some of the lies you said and if you would say them again.

Then there is always the issue of withholding the truth. Is that a lie to? I think it is.

The wife example is a pretty good one and don't say it dosen't happen situations like that happen every day. This is a senario I've been in before.

A friend asks me if I like her new shirt.

Personally I think the shirt is hideous, but I know she likes it, and therefore I know my opinion shouldn't weigh in on her wearing it, so I say.

"It looks good on you." (Becasue it does fit her well)

Witholding the truth, a lie, yes. But isn't it better then saying it's hideous?

I mean what would you do in that situation, Super? And what's more sinful? Making someone feel bad becasue you said the truth or having both parties happy in the end and no harm was done.

And truth/lie is all relative. You go out with a buddy or your wife on a trip. Your recollection of that trip is going to be different then the other persons' that's guarenteed. Who's lying? Who's saying the truth? Both of you are. You are saying Your truth and they their truth. It's all relative just like right or wrong.
