Re: Is potential good enough?
Yes, that's when you start making progress in a civilized debate ... mutually-understood terms. Which is why those who promoted abortion-on-demand are so consistent NOT to use the term "child" or "baby".
In one court case in British Columbia, abortion provider Willoughby Offley was on the witness stand, trying to maintain the govt.'s position that the mere presence of anti-abortionists outside the mill was so 'intimidating" that they had to be outlawed. After he refused to answer the questions in cross-examination without re-phrasing it to use 'fetus' instead of 'baby', Judge Cronin said "I don't know what the problem is saying "baby". Everyone knows it's a baby."
By simply repeating the word 'fetus" time and again, when all it is is the Latin word for "young one", the abortion promoters managed to confound the common sense of the nation to accept that 'there was no child there' ... when if FACT there is. The all-time proof of what George Orwell said about "political language being designed to give substance to wind, and to excuse murder".
