question for experienced fasters


okay - so i was gonna try and fast... but kept getting delayed and side tracked blah blah blah. :-)

i have about 30 to 40 pounds to lose. if i do it the old fashioned way (low cal, intense cardio,etc.) i will only lose 1 to 2 pounds per week - which will take me about 5 months to reach my desired weight!

i know fasting would be much sooner... but i'm afraid that when i come off the fast, i will not have 'learned' enough to control my eating habits and so forth.

SO MY QUESTION IS..

i was thinking about doing 3 weeks low cal, exercise - then 1 week of fasting (7 days) - i could do either water or the MC.

but will that effect my metabolism? so that when i return to diet and exercise, i won't be able to lose any more weight?

please help if you can - i am trying to devise a plan. so far i have been low cal/exercising for the past 4 days... so this is week one.

what do you think?
