Re: kidney beans in crock pot/glass pan links

This is a great question.

I'm looking for some device I can use that does nto introduce any metals or other toxins into the food being cooked too! I'll need to cook rice a coule of times per week.

Since a rice cooker typically has an aluminum container I thought maybe I could use a crock pot with a ceramic container. Your question about glaze is an intersting one...I wonder if you could cook beens and rice for that matter in a glass container placed inside of a solar cooker?

How about a pressure cooker? What are they made of...I've heard that cooking in an iron skillet is okay because we can positively use the iron....humm.

Let's try googling solar cookers. That's what I"m going to do now..to find out if beans and rice can be cooked in them. I know veggies can certainly be cooked in them....Good luck! If you find an answer to your question about the safety of crock pots please post it here. Thanks.
