I worked for Upjohn Pharmaceuticals, and Upjohn was the largest producer of birth control pills.

We used soybean to make birth control pills, because soybean contains the main ingredient, a synthetic female hormone.

During one year there was a soybean shortage in america, we used a certain root from guatemala, it was the only other plant that we knew that had enough synthetic female hormone worth extracting.
