I would like some input please.
Hi, I recently became a vegetarian a couple of months ago.
I am finding that I am getting many headaches and sometimes feel dizzy. I decided that was becasue I might be lacking B12, so I started taking a supplement to (a daily vitamin with all kinds of stuff) help with that.
Im not sure if its working.
Also, Im afraid I am what has been called a junk food vegetarian.
this is what I eat daily.
breakfast: 2 pieces of bread with peanut butter and a banana sliced up inside it. Also Yogi peach detox tea as a replacement for coffee.
lunch: Usually either pasta with soem type of sauce or brown rice with vegetables. manicotti, vegetarian lasagna...
snack: mainly fruit, watermelon, banana, pears, soemtimes tomatoes with catalina dressing and pepper.
dinner:"chicken" patties with hawaiian bread, steamed broccoli, bean and cheese burritos, sometimes frozen tv dinners ...like uncle ben's rice bowls or soemthing like that.
Does this seem like a decent plan? I mix it up soemtimes with other vegetables and fruits. I eat trail mix a few times a week too.
My main concern is protein. I have a friend who told me my body was in shock from lack of protein. I eat about 30 grams of soy protein a day. I use half a scoop of a powder supplement, and put it in a weigtloss shake that has 20 grams of protein, and I blend it with soymilk and water, with a gfew slices of pineapples. I know that seems gross, but it tastes good.
Is that ok? I have also heard a lot of bad things about soy, which shocked me, like cysts and hormone imbalances. I dont need any more of either of these things, and tale stjohn's wort and kava kava to reduce my mood swings. I take that with some calming tea as well.
I dont know if soy is good or bad. I know that my digestion has improved and whenever I eat cheese, my stomache kicks my @ss. Soy products have helped with that.
so basically, Is my diet ok and is soy protein...the amount im tkaing ok?
Im a 21 year old female. I became a vegetarian because meat is icky and if I want to support animal rights, I cant be a hypocrite.
