A brief story..

A woman 20 yrs after her divorce meets up with her ex at a dinner party hosted by her son and his wife, all of a sudden she picks up a knife and prods him "not another word about our son". He was bringing up past relationships that their son had had.
All her life, because she was fearful/needy of losing him she had allowed him to behave in a most unacceptable way, putting her down in front of strangers without questioning him. The penny had at last dropped and she confronted him.
