My point of view is that love cannot and should not be constrained, constructed or measured according to a set of rules. It is constantly being formed and reshaped by new issues. Love is not like math, there is no formula and it should not be hoped or thought that there is. There will be disagreements, and even NEED to be, love needs to be constantly adjustable. Love needs to have obstacles to overcome. Love is in a constant state of TRIUMPH and survival. But none of those disagreements should EVER be allowed "to come between you" because THE RELATIONSHIP IS PARAMOUNT. Love is not YOU, love is not your partner, love is the RELATIONSHIP and that relationship must be coveted fanatically. Lust for the relationship, it is SACRED because love does not exist outside of it. Communication is important and must be TRUSTWORTHY so that you can both trust each other to ALWAYS be what and who you are. Your HONEST comments about the new tie or shoes he likes so much are really not necessary, are they? What YOU think he might MEAN is an extremely dangerous attitude to..."THE RELATIONSHIP". There can be NO trust if you are always convinced that he means something other than what he said. If you accuse him (even in thought) of meaning something other than what he said, then there is no chance that he can join with you in "TRUSTWORTHY" communication and FEEL TRUSTED. Knowing us guys, he will NOT always be HONEST with you (especially about your surprise birthday party), but he NEEDS to be trusted (of course, you can only hope that he is worthy of that trust). Love is "THE" relationship. It is like an animal, it can be fed and grow strong. It can be healthy and it can get sick, BUT, it can also HEAL. GUARD "THE RELATIONSHIP" because THAT"S what love is.
