I don't think you have to call God by name when praying, or say "in Jesus name" either. They're just words. God looks at the heart. Not at the words or actions. So to me it's how you pray, not what you pray. God reacts to the desires of the heart no matter what is said.
I rarely if ever ask for anything material. I just about always apoligize for being such a sinner first. When I have gotten mad at someone, I forgive them. I ask God to help others, and give me what I need to do God's will. Then give thanks for everything, like it's already been given. That's basically all I pray for. Sometimes I talk to God like a good friend who's next to you. I've learned not to pray for anything specific, because it's usually something I didn't need. The key is really meaning it in your heart. For me, God answers this type of prayer. Satan would puke listening to this type of prayer.
