Re: Hell is NOT eternal
Ok, first of all I have studied the Bible a lot so it's not a new endeavor. But I would like to make some some more points here.
The Lord spoke of a resurrection to life, and a resurrection to "Judgement" (John 5:29). The word rendered "damnation" in the Authorized version is more correctly translated "Judgement" from the original. How I love word studies. The Bible always interprets the Bible. John said "But the rest of the dead (those not included in the resurrection to eternal life at Christ's coming) lived not again until the thousand years were finished" (Rev. 20:5) Read verses 11 through 15...
"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the BOOKS were opened: and ANOTHER book was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE: and the dead were JUDGED (not sentenced or condemned, but judged) Out of those things which were written in the books according to their works."
And judgement begins in God's church. (1 Cor. 12:13, 1 Peter 4:17)
And speaking of not everyone having had a chance yet. There have been untold millions or billions of people that have never even heard the only name by which we may be saved! (Acts 4:12) If all of these people, let's say from Africa, China, India etc. that knew nothing about the Son of God, Jesus, then how pray tell did they ever have a first chance? Think of people today living in far remote jungles or villages that have yet to clap eyes on a missionary!
And here is one more point. Notice what God said about his specially chosen nation Israel. "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the REST WERE BLINDED (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should NOT see, and ears that they should NOT hear;) UNTO THIS DAY" (Rom. 11: 7-8)
God has his own timetable that he is working out and he loves mercy. There is much more that I could write but I'm just going to leave it here.
