Can of worms...

I have posted about this before here and opened a can of worms. In fact, the Enlightened/Esoteric Christianity Forum was begun because of posts about this subject that were deleted or moved from here.

From an earlier post of mine:

"The Essene Christian movement (which was in opposition to Paul and his paganized hybrid) was led by James, brother of Jesus. James was stoned to death in Jerusalem and his followers were persecuted. Not long after, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem (in 70 AD ) and the original version of Christianity was wiped out, the teachings were forgotten, not to be revived again until earlier this century. However the other branches of Christianity, centered in the Roman and Greek worlds lived on.... one to become Orthodox, the other to become Gnostic."

Therefore:

There were the Christian Essene and the Christian Gnostic gospels along with many orthodox gospels were suppressed by the early church fathers, and later by Constantine. (BTW, the original Essene writings had none of the Mithras cult overlays)

Many have been found and translated within the last hundred or so years. The are beautiful and stirring teachings...
