God is bluffing?? No, he's mocking the astrologers because they can't stop the impending disaster. He is exposing their powerlessness, their false knowledge, their claim to know the future. In Isaiah 46:9-10 God says,

“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”

Then (in Isaiah 47:13) he goes on to say that the fire they'll be burned with is no mere campfire but a huge inferno.

As for witch burnings, the RCC will have to answer for that, and for many other crimes against God's clear commands. But when God says someone will burn, they will certainly burn. He's God, and we're not. Tweet
