Re: My wife was told that she could have TMJ at first.
My wife has has pain on her right side of her face. It starts in one point and finally it encompasses her temporal, all the way down to her neck. She has sensitivity to cold on her two of her right molars, so we thought it was related to that.... We were then told that she had Periodontal disease, until we saw a Periodonist and he said that she did have peridontal disease but not enough to cause the pain that she described. Our other dilema is tha fact that my wife is 7 weeks pregnant.
The Periodonist told us that he would give her treatment for periodontal disease after her first trimester and that we needed to see a specialist about TMJ. When we saw an Oral Surgeon about TMJ, he diagnosed "migranes". For some reason, we feel that it may be tooth related, since her pain is throbbing and it goes and comes back consistently for about 6 months, with the last week being the worse. My wife gets to the point of crying unless she takes Tylenol with Codeine. She really can't take anything else for the pain because of the pregnancy. Does anyone have any idea as to what may be the problem with her?
Her symptoms are as follows. Throbbing pain on her right side of her face, begining in one area and expanding to the entire right side excluding her eye and ear. The pain has been consistent for more than 6 months, but it has increased in the last week. She has sensitivity to an upper and lower molar that have fillings. She hasn't been able to chew on her right side for about 6 months because it hursts her when she bites down.
Any help will be appreciated greatly.
Regards,
