You're being very convenient. Not good for a proper relationship built on respect (unless the relationship involves two high quality people that will not take advantage of each other's kindness), because it is human nature to impose on the other person's kindness. Men and women are NOT equal and should not aspire to be. Women have a smaller bone structure, less muscle, etc. Men and women should celebrate their differences and not enter into competition with each other or see the situation as needing a solution. You are not entering into a business relationship or making a deal for an even exchange of goods (at least, I don't think that's what you want), so, forget about equality. He is not only imposing too much on you, but what kind of self-respect do you think he has? Has he no shame to ask you to pay?...how lame is that? I would lose respect for myself and my friendship if I did that. Tell him off and get YOUR self-respect back. Tweet
