Re: Tell Me More...

I started seeing a chiropractor after my fall last year and absolutely Loved it!

HOWEVER, before you let a chiropractor start manipulating your back, make sure they take x-rays (oooh, radiation) first. Not knowing what the picture looks like under the skin is just working blind and any chiropractor that doesn't x-ray first is cutting corners - at Your possible expense. There are some quick quack schools out there that pump out 'professionals' left and right for a fee. Thankfully, the majority of chiropractors are good, caring, well trained and conscientious people. Ask a few questions first, make sure you are comfortable with them, and Get Those X-rays!

In my case, I'd had spondylolisthesis for years (although I didn't know it had a name, I just knew I had a weak back.) When I went to see the chiropractor, if he had just done the resistance tests and then started adjusting I could be in a really bad situation. Thankfully, the first thing he did was order x-rays - turns out my vertabrae was broken. No amount of manipulation would have fixed it. But, knowing it was broken and where, he did manage to Very Greatly relieve my pain until I could get surgery to have the bone caged.

I highly recommend chiropractic care. In fact, I'm such a fan of it that I got my husband to go and get some more minor issues seen to and he's feeling much better.
