I also have a H hernia & went to the chiro clinic at the university I attend. The Chiro that worked on me (an Associate Professor)was very pleased to have a H Hernia case to show his students. Did the usual spinal manipulation then a lot of massage on the diaphragm & the muscles that connect it to the spine - I must say the diaphragm was v tender hence would go into spasm easily. He then did some massage under my ribs & sternum & kind of 'pulled' the stomach down. My symptoms improved after the treatment & I had a 2 more treatments after that at about 7-10 day intervals. I also now do some stretching & breathing exercises for the diaphragm & have improved a lot. Chiro said may need to have a treatment about every 6-12 months. I was initally a bit of a sceptic too - that's why I went to the University clinic & am pleased to say that I got quite a bit of benefit from the treatment. Hope this helps - it makes sense to me that keeping the diaphragm & associated muscles supple reduces H Hernia pain.
