I suffered from blepharitis for years and even had to have a nasty chalazion form as a side effect. My first city opthamalogist believes it's at least aggravated by air pollution (I never got them when I lived in the country.) What he recommended was to wash the eyelids with the pink Johnson's Baby shampoo (trademarked, etc.) After we moved again, I found another eye doctor who gave me "OCuSOFT" lid scrub - the ingredients list is chemical soup ~shudder~.

What they suggested Helped, somewhat, but what I've found that seems to actually Work is good food, liver flushing, topically applying a weak GSE (grapefruit seed extract) solution, and (if the lids start to itch or burn during the day) applying very warm (not hot) wet washcloths repeatedly placed over the eyes for 15 to 30 minutes a day.

For GSE solution, once a week I boil filtered water for 5 minutes, then pour about 1/2 cup into a small sterilized glass bottle, add 8 to 10 drops of GSE and keep it sealed when not using. Twice a day, I shake it up then dip a fresh cotton swab in to soak and gently apply it to the upper and lower areas of the eyelashes on both the upper and lower lids. Do NOT use GSE straight from the bottle! Always dilute first! My diet has changed to lots of fresh, mostly raw, vegetables and fruits, no chemical additives, no white/enriched anything, no sugar, no soy, no high-frustose or hydrogenated anything, and even our meat is anti-biotic and additive free (& less of it). I've also just completed my 3rd liver flush. Since doing these steps, the blepharitis has not bothered me again.
