sensitivity

om to all.

Of all the good things brought up in this thread, the one I'm connecting to is sensitivity. Daizy mentions the "macho" and the "ethereal"! Ha!

I would class myself as less sensitive, despite working in the "field" so to speak, as a yoga teacher. I am only beginning to work with reiki, and I believe that my sensitivity is increasing...but should it necessarily increase? Or should I desire to become more sensitive?

I know some people who are incredibly sensitive to energies; an artist for example who worked with human hair and had to stop because by touching it, she was reading too much of the feelings and emotions of those who had anonymously donated their hair.

An interesting thing of note....through the years these incredibly "sensitive" people seem to always gravitate to me in friendship. I often wondered why. It is almost as if they saw into the future, or saw things in me that I wasn't able to see. I could tell by the way they looked at me that they felt a deeper connection to me. I've noticed this both in art school and as a yoga teacher. My art work was deeply spiritual and extremely subtle. I attached meaning to it, but always wondered if I understood it completely.

A couple of ruminations...what I know of my past lives is that I was a healer and that I suffered persecution because of this. Also that the women in my lineage suffered because they were "healers". Is it possible that I chose to be less sensitive in this life so that I could "fly under the radar" so to speak?

Is it possible that I chose to be less sensitive so that I could develop intuition? I don't see sensitivity and intuition as being necessarily exclusive.

I have only practiced reiki on 3 people other than myself (aside from those who trained with me). All 3 have reported feeling strong energies, much more than what I was able to feel myself. Most recently, I teach yoga privately to a young woman with some health issues. Some days are better than others for her, so one day the yoga wasn't working out so well and I asked her if she'd like some reiki instead. I had been having some intuitions about her previously, that there were some 2nd chakra/sex issues and so I focused there. When I used symbols over her low abdominal area she opened her eyes and jumped up to ask me what I was doing. She seemed very comfortable with it, but had felt something shift (I worried that I'd done something wrong, but she assured me not). Is this sensitivity or intuition?

My experience with reiki thus far is that it is extremely powerful. It is something that we all have access to.

I'm rambling now! Obviously the idea of "sensitivity" struck a chord in me because I have always categorized myself as not so sensitive.

hmm
