This is CRAZY! I think my DR lied!

First, I'm brand new here.. so Hi Everyone. My name is Sheila, and I have Chronic Intractable Migraines, have had them for 6 years now. I've posted this on a couple of forums- I'm trying to get some help.

Well, I have a huge problem (aside from the obvious migraines). I need to ask you guys if you've EVER heard of this happening to anyone, or if it's happened to you. PLEASE bear with me, this will be long.

Last night, I went into my clinic's Acute Care facility with a 9.5 migraine. And this was the second full day of this migraine, it had started the day before last, right in the morning. I mean... bigtime pain, vomiting, and my right eye was drooping. I broke down, and for the first time in 3 months, I went in asking for a shot of demerol, which is what I have always done- for years now- when they get this bad.

I used to be a regular demerol patient, getting shots a couple times a month, but since I've gotten better control on my headaches and recognized more of my triggers, I rarely have to get the demerol shot anymore. It averages once every 3-5 months.

Well, let me tell you what happened, you tell ME what you think. The Doc said that he would give me the regular amount of demerol that i've always gotten, but he'd increase the phenergin a little because I was SO SO sick and naseous. So the nurse comes back with the shot. Now, for several years I've gotten the same dosage, and it doesnt have to increase because of the infrequency of my visits. They always... ALWAYS bring 2 syringes. ALWAYS. Altogether, with both the phenergin and Demerol, I was supposed to have 300 miligrams of medication. She had ONE syringe. She told me that it was okay to put that much in one spot, but that it was the maximum. I've always heard the opposite. I was in too much pain to argue, and she did the shot. I didnt feel it at ALL... and phenergin always burns pretty badly. Not this time.. There was no burning, and the one shot took HALF the time that just one of my TWO shots usually takes to inject. It was all wrong, something was wrong. I waited about 15 minutes. Nothing. Still had an icepick in my eye and temple, and my eye was still drooping. And I didnt feel the "Fuzzy" effects I always feel along with the pain relief from Demerol. So I asked the nurse to send the doctor in. After I had waited 25 minutes, the doc comes in. I told him that I had NO pain relief, and that I couldnt even feel the normal, regular effects of the demerol. The doctor told me that in fact, I did get a shot of demerol, but that the nurse probably put it in a block of scar tissue, so it was taking longer to absorb. I was still in tremendous pain, but I had to leave. I couldnt stand the noise and lights any more. I told him that I didnt think he gave me the right shot, there had to have been some mistake. I asked him if there was anything else he could do, to which he replied, NO. He would not give me anything else for the pain. I asked him for a referral to the ER, and he denied me that as well.

Now, I know this sounds weird, and I feel weird even saying it, but I think this doc injected me with a whole other drug than the demerol I'm so very accustomed to. I know how I should feel after a shot. I felt perfectly normal- which was a bad thing, because "normal" was with a 9.5 headache. I didnt sleep a wink last night, and I am still in tremendous pain, although not as bad as last night, but again, it's gaining on me. I may have to go for another shot tonight, but I just found out that it's the same Doc at Acute Care tonight. (I've never had to get a shot two days in a row in my LIFE!) I dont know what I'll do. I've tried all my home-pain meds. I've not been able to eat, because I'm vomiting so much. I cant TAKE THIS! It hurts SO bad, and on top of all of that, I feel like this Doctor injected me with saline, and he was just hoping I'd go home saying I was fine, because he thought I wasnt telling the truth.
I've never EVER EVER had a doctor say I was a drug seeker. I'm NOT a drug seeker, I only take a narcotic if I'm in such severe pain that i cannot function. Also, I've stayed in very close contact with my regular doc, and she would have told me if there was something like that in my chart- there just is NOT. I had just had a regular check-up and asked her specifically if there was.. and she told me NO, there was NOT. I check once in a while with her because its one of every migraineurs greatest fears to be labeled a drug seeker.

Is it possible that the nurse put this shot into scar tissue, (I always get my shot in the same general spot- and I've never had this problem before) and it would not work? Is that even possible? I never felt any effect of demerol on me- not the entire night, and I didnt sleep- both things would seem impossible if I had had a shot of demerol. I didnt even have Dry Mouth. Is it possible that a Doctor- OR Nurse would do this- tell a patient that they were being given a drug that they were NOT given?? I dont know what to do. I havent reported this. I am afraid I'll sound like a lunatic. But if this headache keeps on... I'm going crazy with this pain.... I just HURT. My eye is drooping still, and my face is still numb, still vomiting.
I hope there is someone out there who understands these migraines, and I hope you dont think I'm just some crazy. I hope.... Thanks for your replies in advance. I Will check back in a while. Going to lay down.. Thanks guys, for your input. Sheila....
