Good article, but I don't understand this:

80% of the cholesterol in our system is produced by the liver, the rest comes from what we eat. Excess carbs get converted immediately into fat, which requires the liver to manufacture lots of cholesterol. Vegetarians often have cholesterol levels commensurate to non-vegetarians.

I'm not a no-carb person, but do feel that excessive simple carb consumption is the main culprit for high cholesterol. Avoiding white foods (white rice, pasta, white flour, potatoes, sugar), has kept both my weight and cholesterol levels down.
