Mercola is a continuation of this and applies some of the same theories as Atkins plus some of his own.Mercola is a big proponent of ''the Metabolic Typing diet'' by Wolcott and Fahey,which is a forum in itself.After taking the metabolic typing self test i find i am a high or purine protein type which is right on for me and the atkins/mercola low carb type diets. But to answer your question ''is atkins or mercola better long term? i would say that you have to decide that yourself,listen to your body and continue to remain vigilant in persuit of your own health.
