Re: For Grog

Hi! Only found this board recently. My goodness, there is a flood of madness since that report was released, isn't there? It's happening on other health sites, too.

But even before that, and more intensely since some positive reports started to come out about Atkins, a poster would come on and post all the usual nonsense about Atkins whenever anyone would ask a question about it. They would be very active for a couple of weeks but then disappear (because they have no grounds to answer any criticisms, of course, they just spout the party line). Then in a couple of weeks, someone new would pop up posting the same nonsense, and the cycle would start up again.

But only rarely do low-carbers go onto vegetarian or low-fat threads and criticize, as you observed, grog.

I think the omega3s are a problem for the veggies. They have been shown to have an effect on mood. And the only good sources are animal. Only a very small amount of the EFAs in flaxseed can be used by the body. Plus B12 plays a part in nerve function.

But some of them are a hostile lot, aren't they? Before I ever studied anything about nutrition, I saw a debate between Atkins and Ornish (long, long ago). Atkins was laid back and defending his view; Ornish was so huffy and hostile, making personal remarks, I thought, whatever that guy I doing, I want no part of it. If you end up being so nasty, I would rather die a few years early!
